Pre-Time

2019

A time before all that follows. I am small, and interact more with objects than with people. Objects are interesting, colourful, textured, and smelly.. The sky is big. Darkness is scary. Plants are diverse. People are complicated. I try to imitate them – after all, I want to be human too – but it doesn’t always work out; imagine a little girl suddenly uttering a stupid joke in imitation of an old man. We live on the edge of city, a place that used to be countryside not long ago, and still feels like it. We drive to grandma’s place by the sea for summer. We occasionally have to tolerate kindergarten and school. One day, I learn that this world will be wiped from the map. I put my memory in high gear and try to preserve every detail of my surrounds.
