Cortisol

A stress hormone that mobilizes the body’s energy storage, while weakening the immune system. Raises blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Helps the body restore homeostasis after short-term stress; causes illness due to long-term exposure to stress. Plays a role in the formation of traumatic memories.

Formerly known as: Artemis – the virgin goddess of hunting, protectress of children and nature. She enjoyed the chase, and was able to send both disease and health to humans.

Having problems with allergy? You’ll be relieved by a cortisol pill, but a word with Artemis can be just as good.
